Anti-communism is opposition to communism. Organized anti-

communism developed in reaction to the rise of communism,

especially after the 1917 October Revolution in Russia and the

beginning of the Cold War in 1947. Since the end of the Cold War in

 1991, anti-communism has dropped considerably..But still we

consider communists as potential enemy of democacy . In India the

members of C.P.I. (M.L.)  Party who are also called naxalites are

engaged in violent fights with police particularly in the states like

Odisha , Chhatisgarh , Andhra Pradesh , West Bengal ,

Jharakhanda , Bihar , Madhya Pradesh and Maharastra . They are

still active in neighbouring countries like Nepal . So it is wrong to say

that anti-communism has lost it's relevance after the cold

war .Communists are still active in many Latin American states like

Cuba and Venzualla . Since the split of the Communist Parties from

the socialistSecond International to form the Communist Third

International, democratic socialists and social democrats have been

in conflict with Communism, criticising it for its anti-democratic

nature.The Catholic Church has a history of anti-communism .
